Meet our founder

Steven Strange

As a past Director of Health Metrics (HM), Steven brought over 30 years of technical and leadership experience to the table. At HM, this experience was directed at overseeing the execution of HM’s global strategy. Amongst other things, this involved taking technology products to local and international markets. Via this process, Steven has developed a sound understanding of health care models, on a global basis.

After having steered HM to market dominance across the ANZ, in 2021 Steven sold a majority stake in HM to a Private Equity firm. This has freed him up to participate at a Director/governance level within Aged Care, as well as for other organizations.

Since beginning his career in information technology as a programmer in 1982, Steven has progressed through roles as an IT Manager, a Senior Technology Consultant and an IT Director.

Steven’s past roles include: IT Director for Ansett/Traveland, IT Director Fluid Interactive, General Manager Datum Group (Business Intelligence and Multimedia). Over this period, he has gained extensive skills in Strategy Development and Program Execution.

The Health & Social Care (Aged Care+) industry has become a niche for Steven. He has run complex, large scale IT projects for some of the largest for-profit operators in Australia and is highly regarded for his input on all matters pertaining to Clinical systems, Business Intelligence, ERP/Finance systems and Enterprise Data Science. 

Steven’s knowledge of the Aged Care Industry and its metrics is extensive and this knowledge has had practical application by way of the development of Aged Care whitepapers and models. Further, he has developed business strategies as they pertain to profitability, stability and scalability for the sector. Steven has previously consulted directly to the wagering industry on technical IT matters. Some of his previous assignments have been; “high roller management”, “betting engine performance and scalability”, “security analysis” and “market framing design”. Clients have included IASBet, TAB Corp and Sportingbet.

Steven is a leading figure in the information technology industry in Australia and has contributed to several industry white papers as well as academic papers; Eg. “Towards a Blockchain based Fall Prediction Model” and "Blocking content on the Internet: A Technical perspective" (National Office for the Information Economy). He has also delivered industry lectures and taught at Monash University from time to time. Recently, “Background rates of hospital transfer and death in Australian aged care facilities: estimates to assist interpretation of rates after COVID-19 vaccination” - Medical Journal of Australia.

Steven’s past research streams included: Length of Stay in an Aged Care Facility (Monash collaboration). Vaccine Efficacy (Murdoch Children’s Institute)

Steven has advised law firms such as Baker McKenzie regarding IT matters. Specifically, he has been utilized as a highly respected expert witness by these firms on various IT matters.

Steven is a full member of the Australian Computer Society (MACS), Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD) and holds Computing and Law qualifications from Monash University including a Masters Degree in Information Science.
